The Colleyville Courier

Issues to Address

Following a 3-3 record at a tournament in New Braunfels, head coach Lib by Torres said her squad is in its comfort zone.

The team was 9-5 going into the week, with a schedule that mixes stronger teams and softer teams. A good challenge in the New Braunfels tournament was a loss to state power Austin Westlake. Colleyville also played Mansfield Summit and Round Rock Westwood.

"We learned a lot from [the match against Austin Westlake]," Torres said. "But the good thing is that our confidence didn't suffer. We are just going to have to grow up and continue to play."

The Lady Panthers still must find an outside hitter. Sophomores Hilary koch and Kristi Webb are still vying for the role.

Last year, Jordan Jesberg appeared to be one of the team's top returning offensive players. However, a labrum injury in her right (hitting) shoulder turned her into top player for different reasons.

Jesberg has switched from outside hitter to libero because she had no use of her hitting shoulder. She would only see the court if she played defense. And there appears to be no issues with the significant move.

"She's handled it very well," Torres said. "It has been a period of adjustment. But she's such a good athlete that she can move into something new and not let it affect her."
