Background:

Although born in Oklahoma, I attended schools in Oklahoma, Michigan and Texas. I graduated from Forest Park High School in Beaumont, Texas. I attended Washington State University where I was lucky enough to live in La Maison Française, a dorm for those wishing to improve their French speaking skills.

It was while living in Madrid and teaching English as a Second Language that I realized I loved teaching. Upon returning to the United States, I attended Oklahoma State University to obtain my teaching credentials.
I began my teaching career as a Spanish and French teacher in rural Oklahoma. I continued my teacher career in rural Florida and upstate New York.

I have been teaching in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD since 1991. I was a Spanish and French teacher, as well as department coordinator at Grapevine Junior High from 1991-1996. I was on the original staff at CHHS, serving as the Foreign Language department coordinator and teaching Spanish and French. I made the move to ESL five years ago. It is my privilege to work closely with immigrant students. I love seeing a student who arrived knowing very little English graduate four years later. I believe that I have the best job in the school.

Educational  Philosophy:

I believe that all people are born with the desire to learn. It is the responsibility of the teacher not to extinguish this longing. Students learn best when the material is meaning and relevant. Teachers should provide plenty of hands on experience. Education works best when it is a cooperative endeavor between educators, parents and students.

Personal Statement:

My faith and my family are the most important things in my life. I am an avid reader, enjoy attending cultural events, going to museums and traveling. On weekends, I can be found working in my garden or doing odd jobs around the house.
