Background: I began my teaching career in 1980 at Lamar Junior High in Irving (where I stayed for 3 years). My teaching experience is in World History (6th), Texas History (7th), American History (8th, 9th, & 11th), American Cultures, World Area Studies, Geography, Pre-AP Geography, and Global Studies (9th), AP American History (11th), and Service Learning (11th and 12th). I attend various seminars each year to stay current with new teaching strategies.

Teaching Philosophy: My classroom is a sharing experience. There is more to teaching than content and the textbook. Interaction and communication are essential elements of the learning process. From the first day of school my students are aware of the class rules and what is expected of them. I am firm but fair.

Being able to share in my students’ learning experiences give me my sense of accomplishment. One of my goals is to accept the challenge of “why study history?” and help students understand how we learn from our past; otherwise, we may repeat it. I believe in challenging each and every one to reach his/her full potential.
