Background: This will be my 30th year of teaching and my second high school experience. I began teaching at Irving High School in 1978. I joined the Special Services Department in Irving and moved to a junior high setting for 12 years. I have been Department head and Diagnostician for the Irving Schools.

I joined the GCISD in 1992 at Heritage Middle School. It was my pleasure to teach Language Arts in the Special Services Department. During my career, I have sponsored many outstanding groups: cheerleaders, student councils, the Youth Advisory Council, Service Learning Council, Spirit Club, freshman and senior classes. This year it is my privilege to sponsor the Senior class at CHHS.

Teaching Philosophy: I have a strong belief that all students can learn and be successful. It is my job to create a positive environment that will encourage students to take risks and gain skills needed to lead a productive and satisfying life. When students believe in themselves they can achieve! In 35 years of teaching, I have never found a student that has not succeeded.
Personal Statement: I have been married to Randy Lyon, a wonderful man, for 20 years. Randy travels world-wide for Infor as a director of business. I have two children: Jenny, a Mizzu graduate that majored in Broadcast Journalism. She is currently employed by ABC in Austin as a producer of the news! She is off the payroll!

Chris is a senior at CHHS. He is #79. Go PANTHERS. My goal is to teach until my children’s college debts are paid off and then retire to the Cliffs at Possum Kingdom Lake where I will own and operate an Equestrian Center for the subdivision.
