Background:

As is the case with many teachers, teaching was not my original purpose in attending Abilene Christian University. I went to college believing my future lay in graduate school and the financial rewards higher education offered. In an effort to bolster my student resume, I tutored elementary students around Abilene. This experience opened my eyes to my true and current calling, working with kids. My desire to become a teacher increased as I tutored less-privileged students in the three years following my initial internship. Besides church, my family has always been the most important part of my life, so it just stood to reason that I would return to my hometown and get a job at the high school. I believe my years growing up in Colleyville better equip my teaching style. I am familiar with the high expectations placed on both students and educators in the immediate area. It is my intense desire to meet the needs of every student so that they may be better prepared for their lives after high school.

Educational  Philosophy:

My teaching style is tailored towards the individual needs of each student. Since I believe that every student can learn, I make every effort to “meet students where they are.” Students will be exposed to old and new literature. They will also learn the value and application of various forms of media (i.e.: music, periodicals, etc) according to district and state guidelines.

Interests: Besides the obligatory passion for reading and writing, I am close to my family. It is a personal joy to teach in the town I grew up in.
