| Background: |
I came to CHHS with a varied background. I began my teaching career
in 1969 near the Canadian border at Grand Marais, Minnesota. I then moved on to Minneapolis
and taught high school for two years and then on to Japan to teach for the Department of
Defense. I went back to the United States in 1973 to get married and to settle in Los Angeles,
California. While there, I worked for Fluor Engineering and Construction as an International
Relocation Coordinator. My next stop was San Diego, California where I trained tellers for a
savings and loan, became a full time mom for eight years, and then worked as an administrative
assistant at a church. Finally, after moving to place Texas in 1995, I returned to teaching as
a substitute teacher for GCISD. My first year back teaching, I taught part time and
substituted part time. I have been full time at CHHS since the 1999-2000 school year. |
| Teaching Philosophy: |
Every student is unique and has something to offer. It is my goal to have my students enjoy learning and to know how to learn. I want them to create art that gives them a feeling of accomplishment. I want them to be able to appreciate the art of other students as well as famous artists. I want what they learn in my class to give them confidence in their artistic knowledge, and enable them to appreciate the art in their everyday lives I believe a student has many facets. They are a diamond in the
rough. Although we usually never see what cut of diamond they turn out to be, it is exciting
and challenging to tap into those facets while we can so we can encourage them, listen to
them, challenge then, guide them, accept them for who they are and to open doors to show them
what they can become. |
| Personal: |
I enjoy spending time with my family.
My husband, Gary, and I met in Japan and we have been married since 1973. Our oldest son,
Sean, graduated from CHHS in the year 2000. Our youngest son, Scott graduated in 2006. We like
to explore Texas, camp and fish. I find it relaxing to read, garden, experiment with
photography, cook and bake, sing to my dog, and, of course, create art! |
