Background:

I’ve lived in Bedford since I was two and graduated from Trinity High School. That is where I took my first photography class with my favorite, most passionate, encouraging and inspiring teacher in my 19 years of school. One of his many talents was analyzing handwriting and after he read mine he even told me that I would one day be a teacher.

I went to UNT for advertising but decided after three years that I didn’t want to work in the advertising field, so I tried some public relations and newspaper classes. When I graduated I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to do so I decided to stay in school to explore other options and to pursue a master’s degree.

During grad school I was offered the chance to work as a teaching assistant for some undergrad level journalism classes. I loved teaching the writing labs and helping students get their stories published in the North Texas newspaper, the NT Daily. That’s when I decided to become a teacher and the rest is history!

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that learning is a lifelong journey and my goal is to introduce students to new skills and ideas and spark new interests. My classroom is a self-directed, hands-on learning environment where students are encouraged to explore possibilities using problem solving and creativity
