Substance Abuse Prevention Committee

a coalition to safeguard our youth

The Substance Abuse Prevention Committee works to ensure that all students have the internal strengths and external supports they need and that adults in their lives are equipped to effectively guide and support them. Members of the committee include faculty, staff, police officers, students, parents, business and community leaders. Our purpose is to raise awareness of substance abuse issues by providing and supporting educational and information programs such as:

  • Red Ribbon Drug Awareness Celebration

  • DARE – Drug Abuse Resistance Education

  • Shattered Dreams – Drunk Driving Prevention Program (held every other either at CHHS and the opposite year at GHS)

  • Safe Homes Directory

  • Speakers Bureau

  • Drug and Violence Prevention Resource Library

  • Adult/Student Mentor Program

  • Parent to Parent

  • SADD – Students Against Destructive Decisions

  • PALS – Peer Assisted Leadership Skills

  • DAVE – Drug and Violence Education

  • Projection Graduation

  • Alcohol and Drug Pledge
