It is the expectation of the GCISD that students in Advanced Placement
courses will take the College Board Advanced Placement test in May. The fee per exam
varies by year and is payable in advance of the exam. Students who are taking a course on
a campus other than their home campus will pay at the campus where they take the course
and will take the test at the campus where they take the course.
-
If students choose not to take the College Board exam, students will
take the district version of an Advanced Placement test at the same time and same location
as the College Board exam. The district version of an AP test will be considered as the
semester exam grade and be weighted accordingly. Of course, the AP College Board Exams
should be the goal of every student enrolled in AP courses.
-
A final listing of tests requested will be posted throughout the
building for student confirmation prior to the exam. After the normal registration date,
students who have signed up for an exam and choose not to take that exam will be expected
to pay an additional fee to cover the expenses that the state and College Board usually
pay for students who actually take the test.
-
Students who earn grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams on
full-year courses, or the equivalent number of half-year courses, will receive AP Scholar
Awards. Exams corresponding to half-year courses are: Computer Science A; U. S. Government
and Politics; Microeconomics; Psychology, and Statistics.
