Texas Attendance Policy

Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine-Colleyville ISD are committed to providing our students with a quality education.  To help us in that endeavor, we need a commitment from the students to be in attendance every day.  When students are in class every day, doing each day's work, learning becomes much easier -- and the students become much more successful.

The attendance office is conveniently located
by the front main entrance.

If illnesses or emergencies do occur, parents should call the attendance office each day the student is absent.  The attendance office main line (817.305.4717) is available 24 hours per day

After an absence, student must re-enter school through the attendance office and must present a written excuse signed by a parent or guardian unless the parent has called in.

The State of Texas understands the relationship between good attendance and a good education and has passed the following attendance law:

A student must be in attendance 90% of the total number of school days in order to receive credit in his or her classes.

With our block schedule, this means that students who miss more than five days may lose credit.

Colleyville Heritage will do all that we can to ensure that students receive credit in courses where they have earned a passing grade. We will notify parents by mail if a student's absences exceed the minimum allowed and we will work with students on a contractual arrangement to regain their credits.  However, the major responsibility lies with the student.
